Appearance: White granular powder, melting at about 190degrees centigrade. Gradually darkens on exposure to light and/or heat, reasonably stable in air when dry, but deteriorates in solution in the presence of air. One gram is soluble in about 3ml of water and in about 30ml of alcohol. It is insoluble in chloroform, in ether, and in benzene.
